AYSO’s Safe Haven: Keeping AYSO Players and Volunteers Safe

We take the safety of our athletes seriously. Precautions are taken on the field to prevent physical injuries, and precautions are taken off the field to ensure children and volunteers are safe in their interactions with each other.   AYSO’s Safe Haven program has been put in place to protect AYSO players and the volunteers who serve them. It requires that each AYSO volunteer complete and eSign a volunteer application each and every year, agreeing to background checks and to abide by the philosophies and policies of AYSO.

Thank you for participating and volunteering.

On March 20, 2015 in Albany NY, the American Youth Soccer Organization (AYSO) Region 1539 Spring Cove was awarded the Platinum Regional Assessment Award for the 2013/2014 AYSO season. The award honors Region 1539 for overall excellence and its commitment to serving its communities and other AYSO Regions.

The Platinum Award is the highest award that AYSO Regions can receive. Platinum Regions represent the best of the best that AYSO has to offer. These Regions model AYSO’s philosophies and commitment in providing the best family-friendly youth soccer experience for all players and parent volunteers. They nurture the generous spirit of their participants plus devote extra effort to providing assistance to worthy charitable causes.  Our AYSO Region is one of these excellent regions!

The Region Assessment Program is an evaluation of a Region’s performance compared against a list of best practices from Regions across the country. There are four award levels—Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum.

Thank you to everyone who helped us achieve this honor!

AYSO has announced important steps to ensure that every AYSO child has the best possible soccer learning experience. Coaches and assistant coaches in every division in every AYSO Region are required to have AYSO’s age-appropriate training and AYSO Safe Haven® certification when they take the field. The policy was approved and adopted by the National Board of Directors at their July 2009 meeting and is supported by the National Coaching Advisory Commission.

The coach-training policy will roll forward each year adding one additional level of required age-specific coach training until, by the 2015 membership year, every AYSO coach and assistant coach at every level will be appropriately trained for the team they will coach.

AYSO’s Safe Haven program is designed to help fulfill the promise of a fun, fair, safe, positive environment for experiencing youth sports. Learn about AYSO’s unique vision and philosophies, child and volunteer protection, the importance of promoting safety and injury prevention as well as role modeling good sportsmanship.
It’s the one course every volunteer must take to be trained and certified.

AYSO's Vision is to provide world class youth soccer programs that enrich children's lives.

AYSO's Mission is to develop and deliver quality youth soccer programs which promote a fun, family environment based on AYSO's Six Philosophies:

  • Everyone PlaysTM
  • Balanced Teams
  • Open Registration
  • Positive Coaching
  • Good Sportsmanship
  • Player Development

Important notice about soccer equipment:

Shin guards are mandatory for all soccer players  Cleats on shoes are optional, but if used must be soccer cleats.  No other types of cleats are permitted in this region.

We are actively looking for interested volunteers for coaching and also referee positions.  Training is provided for all interested.  Remember, AYSO is comprised of ALL volunteers.
Just don't sit on the sidelines, but join in the fun with your children.
